History, Present & Visions for the Ladenburg Estate

The Romans already recognized the beautiful location of the Ladenburg Manor when they laid the first foundation stone for the site in 98 AD. The old estate was part of an area called "Rosengarten", which fell to the monastery of Lorsch in 799, and was sold on to the canons of Neuhausen near Worms in 1199. In 1833, the Ladenburg estate passed to Theodor Waldner, lord of the castle of Weinheim and Limburgerhof, who was married to the Countess von Berckheim. The von Berckheims owned the estate until 1930 and helped it gain a national reputation by organizing horse races. In 1766, the estate was once again of special public interest when Elector Carl Theodor ordered the excavation of Roman remains in the area between Ladenburg and Schriesheim, which had been interpreted as a "bath". Parts of the "Villa Rustica" discovered in the process are still preserved today. In 2008, the Huben nursery acquired the Ladenburg estate in order to lease it on a long-term basis to Matrix GmbH Heidelberg in 2014.

In cooperation with the Heidelberg advertising agency Einzelstück, it will now become one of the most beautiful and spacious event locations in the entire Rhine-Neckar region. To this end, the two event halls will be thoroughly renovated while preserving their historic appearance, fitted with underfloor heating, and expanded to include a catering area. At the same time, the sanitary facilities will be brought up to the latest standards, and the spacious inner courtyard area will be provided with new planting. The conference rooms will be equipped with the latest technology and in the near future, overnight accommodation will be available for guests directly on the estate.

The special attraction of the Ladenburg Estate is its central location between Heidelberg and Mannheim in delightful rural surroundings. The Ladenburg Estate is set to become the leading event location in the Rhine-Neckar region and will be available for wedding parties as well as corporate and anniversary celebrations. On selected days, cultural events and trade fairs will also be held at the Gutshof.
