Heidelberger Sommertagszug (Heidelberg Summer Day Parade)

Every year in March, the Heidelberg Sommertagszug parades through the old town.

The participants march through the Old Town carrying their traditional Summer Day sticks, decorated with a pretzel, a blown-out egg and colorful ribbons.
The procession starts at 3 p.m. in the St. Anna Gasse and leads through the main street to the Marktplatz (Market Square). The colorful parade will be led by Liselotte von der Pfalz and will be musically enriched.
At the Marktplatz a scenic presentation of the battle between winter and summer follows, from which the summer emerges victorious. The stage program will be framed by dance performances.

The Summer Day Parade is organized by Heidelberg Marketing in close cooperation with the local traditions' commitee, supported by the voluntary fire brigade of the Old Town.
